Twos Program

During the first three years of life, children absorb their environment effortlessly. Therefore, the Toddler Program has been thoughtfully designed and organized to meet the needs of these younger children.

With an intimate setting of two adults and twelve children, our Toddler Program is designed to develop independence and a sense of self. The toddlers are introduced to age-appropriate Montessori materials and activities which will arouse their interest and encourage involvement. In the Toddler classroom, there are well defined areas of learning, as well as plenty of room for social interaction.

Practical Life lessons, such as pouring, sweeping, and dressing, allow these young children to care for themselves and their environment. In addition, these fundamental lessons aid the development of motor skills, self control, a sense of order, and self confidence. There are exercises which focus on large muscle movement, while others practice fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Grace and Courtesy lessons are practiced daily to help toddlers develop important social skills such as sharing and consideration for others.

Language Enrichment is another important area of learning for the Toddler. These lessons give children the words they need to express themselves, and also gives names to all they see in their environment. These skills are practiced through a variety of fun and engaging activities such as stories, poems, songs, picture cards, and even daily conversation.

In the Toddler Program at The Manor Montessori School, we hope to turn the child’s natural curiosity into positive learning experiences. It is during these first few years of life that the roots for a love of learning are established.

The Toddler program is for the two year old child and need not be potty trained. It is available five days (Monday through Friday) from 9:00am to 12 noon at all three locations.
