During Summer Day Camp, we offer a Toddler class for the 2-year-old child at Bethesda and Potomac locations. It is available three or five days per week from 9:00am to 11:45am. Your child need not be potty-trained for this class. We provide diapers, as well as support for those children who are learning to use the potty.
The Toddler program provides a loving and nurturing environment, as it is often the child’s first school experience. Our teachers are well-trained and experienced in engaging the children and dealing with separation. The classroom is furnished and the activities are designed for the 2-year-old child. Each day the children will enjoy plenty of free exploration and playtime, story time, singing, movement, snack, and some very basic, introductory lessons from the practical life area of the Montessori classroom, as well as, social skills.
The Primary class is for children who are 3 and 4 years of age, and potty-trained. It is available five days per week on a half-day or full-day basis. Campers in the Primary class enjoy a variety of activities each day. Some basic Montessori lessons are introduced for new children, and reinforced for those children who attend Manor Montessori during the school year. The camp day also offers the children many opportunities to explore their world through arts & crafts, yoga, sewing, movement, music, and stories. Plus, there is certainly plenty of time for free play, both inside and outside, as well as group games. At Potomac, two days per week we enjoy time at the “wading pool.” Rockville & Bethesda engage in water play.
The Junior class is for children who are 5 - 7 years of age. It is available five days per week and is a full-day program. The campers in the Junior class go on many fun and exciting field trips throughout the summer. The campers also enjoy many activities on a daily basis, such as arts & crafts, soccer, music, yoga, sewing, drama and stories. Fundamental math and reading exercises are also available. In addition, the Juniors are introduced to some basic skills and rules for playing a variety of games and team sports. Campers enjoy time at the pool twice per week, which is supervised by life guards and our staff. Tennis lessons are also offered each week to campers in the Junior class.
Summer Day Camp is offered at all three locations: Potomac, Rockville and Bethesda, and continues your child’s present Montessori program, or introduces your child to the work of Montessori. The children work on enhancing language and math skills and also practice practical life and sensorial exercises. All children must enroll in at least one session (minimum 2 weeks). Dates are listed on the application.
